Silverton’s roots as a Las Vegas area casino dates back to 1989, when Ed Roski’s company, Majestic Realty Co. purchased a plot of land along Interstate 15. In 1993, Roski partnered with Boomtown Inc. to build a $70 million property. The construction was complete in 1994, and thus Boomtown Las Vegas was open for business on May 27, 1994.

In 1997, Hollywood Park Inc. completed a deal to acquire the property’s operating company in exchange for $8.5 million in promissory notes and $2.1 million in cash and Hollywood Park-Boomtown was born. But the name was short-lived when Roski decided to rename the property in December of 1997 to Silverton.

Along with the name change, the casino cut staff and shifted it’s interior aesthetic to mirror that of a hunting lodge. Inside the lobby of the casino is a Bass Pro Shop and a large 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium. Overall, the property really embodies the water and lodge motif.

After multiple nine-figure renovations in 2004 and 2009, Silverton stills stands today off I-15 north of both South Point and The M Resort Spa Casino, making it the last casino you see before you enter the Las Vegas strip.

This 300-room hotel mostly caters to California residents and locals as it is off the strip and the patrons are less concerned about being directly near Las Vegas’ main attractions. There are two different buildings for The Berkley, Las Vegas portion of the hotel and main casino, with the casino floor being plenty large. Parking is free at Silverton either in the garage or on the surface lot. You can also take advantage of complimentary valet parking at Silverton. We have never had any issues finding parking during our visits to Silverton.

The casino at Silverton offers all the main gaming options from including 30 table games ranging from Roulette, Craps, Blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, and Three Card Poker. You will find table games running from anywhere between $5-$1,000.

Baccarat at Silverton

Surprisingly, Silverton does not offer baccarat.

Blackjack at Silverton

At Silverton, you will mostly find 3:2 blackjack tables for the double deck and six deck games. There are some single deck games that pay 6:5. Overall, there are only a few blackjack tables on the casino floor. If you are a fan of side bets you’ll happy to know that Silverton offers Royal Match, King’s Bounty and Bonus Spin side bets on their blackjack tables.

Craps at Silverton

There are plenty of craps tables at Silverton and most tables have $5 minimums. The odds payouts are 10x, which is one of the better games in Las Vegas. However, the floor personnel and dealers are not the best in terms of being friendly and knowledgeable.

Roulette at Silverton

Roulette is also offered on Silverton’s casino floor. You will find that the majority are standard rules with two zeros and minimum bets range from $5 to $10 on the inside or outside.

Other Table Games at Silverton

Silverton offers a few other tables games, all of which have progressive bonuses.

– Three Card Poker with Progressive Bonuses
– Pai Gow Poker with Progressive Bonuses
– Ultimate Texas Hold’em with Progressive Bonuses

High Limit Room at Silverton

There is no high limit room for table games at Silverton.

Slots at Silverton

Silverton offers more than 1,500 slot titles on the casino floor. The games are a good mix of classic titles and modern games. Limits started at a penny and go up to $1 with $0.10, $0.25, and $0.50 in between. A few of the more popular games are available such Buffalo and variations of Buffalo and Wheel of Fortune, as well as, branded favorites including Willy Wonka and The Goonies.

High Limit Slots at Silverton

The high limit slots room at Silverton is very small and can almost go unnoticed if it wasn’t for a sign indicating its location. It is mostly video poker and the games do not go over $5 and $10 denominations for the most part.

In general, the game selection is not very modern. The only noteworthy high limit machine is Wheel of Fortune, which can only be played up to the $5 denomination.

Video Poker at Silverton

There are five variations of video poker at Silverton, and if you play while drinking at the bars you will receive comp drinks. The payback is solid ranging from 98.91% to 99.20% depending on which game you are playing. Wager amounts across the games range from $0.05 to $2. Some, not all, machines have a $5 wager and the high limit machines go up to $10.

Relative to other casinos and bars there is not much choice and variation when it comes to video poker at Silverton.

Poker Room at Silverton

On January 31, 2012, Silverton closed its poker room and there is no active poker room currently within the casino.

Sportsbook at Silverton

Run by CG Technology, the Silverton sportsbook is a very viable location to watch and bet on sports. The sportsbook area is just about 2,000 square feet located on the main casino floor. They offer lines on all major sports such as basketball, football, golf, baseball, soccer, and more.

You will instantly notice the large HD TV, which is 7.5 x 53 feet wide, and it is capable of simulcasting multiple sporting events simultaneously. Two additional screens are solely dedicated to displaying current betting odds, and there are 38 carrels that offer the option to watch games and place bets.

One thing we liked about the sportsbook is that is very open. There are several slot games located directly behind the carrels so you can play slots while keeping tabs on live sports. The one downside of the sportsbook being so open is that it is small and there is not anything fancy or special about it. It would be a good place to watch a game if you are tired of looking for seats with a good view of the betting board and TV screens at other sportsbooks. But don’t expect much else such as billiards or a bar and/or restaurant.

Hotel at Silverton

The following list is the room options available at Silverton.

– Resort room
– Luxury King
– Luxury Suites
– The Berkley, Las Vegas
– Room Packages

As stated previously the hotel at Silverton has 300 rooms, which is small by Vegas standards. However, that does not mean the rooms are no good. Silverton offers Resort Rooms, Luxury King Rooms, Luxury Suites, and room packages.

The price for the Resort Room is very affordable and we feel is a great deal if you are not concerned with staying on the strip. Resort Rooms typically range between $70 and $190 per night, depending on the time of year.

Luxury Rooms range between $125 and $225 per night, but still, we feel as though this is a pretty good deal as the Luxury Rooms include a Starbucks in-room coffee maker, WiFi (resort fee applied), and other small touches that make you feel at home during your stay such as bathrobes.

Silverton’s Luxury Suites are also reasonably priced as they typically range between $195 and $395+ per night. When comparing Silverton’s resort fee with other hotels it is considered low, only $16.99 + tax per night. The resort fee gives you access to WiFi, free parking, fitness center access, and more. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 12pm for all of Silverton’s rooms.

Silverton also has an 18-story building directly next to the Silverton Hotel Casino building called, The Berkley, Las Vegas. The Berkley sets out to model a resort, as the rooms provide a dining area, kitchen, living room, and outdoor BBQ area. It is best to check with the hotel for the most current rates as they fluctuate between $295 and $600+ per night depending on availability and the time of the year.

Located in the surface parking lot of the hotel and casino are community fire pits with seating, which seem to be open to the public but often times are not too crowded. We thought this was an added bonus of the property if you need a break from being indoors all day.

Spa and Fitness Center at Silverton

While there is no spa at Silverton, their fitness center is open 24 hours a day. Inside, you will find free weights, cardio equipment, and TVs.

Restaurants & Bars at Silverton

Silverton offers a variety of different casual food options along with a few different bars and lounges. While we haven’t had all of them, we can say that we were pleased to see some variety and you probably will find something you like when dining at Silverton.

– Flare Bar
– Johnny Rockets
– Mermaid Lounge
– Mi Casa Grill Cantina
– Seasons Buffet
– Shady Grove Lounge
– Starbucks
– Sundance Grill
– WuHu Noodle

Fine Dining

The closest fine dining option at Silverton has to be the Twin Creeks Steakhouse. While it may not compete with some of the restaurants found on the strip or elsewhere in Las Vegas, it is a pretty good steakhouse. It is open from 5pm to 12am every day except Monday and Tuesday.

Veil Pavilion at Silverton

Silverton’s Veil Pavilion offers live music and entertainment, which is an added bonus for guests of the hotel, all year round. The entertainment is typically up-and-coming artists or cover bands but if you are looking for something to do heading to the Veil Pavilion is a viable option. The box office hours are from 7am to 12am Sunday through Thursday and 7am to 1am on Friday and Saturday.
